M4 CP - Design Competition (Part 1)

Ashurst Emerging Artist Prize 2018 Deadline:  January 14, 2018  (76 days left) http://www.artprize.co.uk/the-prize.html This competition is open world wide and open to any age.  The target audience is anyone and any design form is welcomed. I am going to mainly use Adobe Photoshop, it is in fact one of my strong suits and will be able to transform my design concepts below very well. Basically it will achieve what and how I would like it turn out. My Design concept, I wanted to think really outside the box that would make you think.."What the hell?" But yet it is still very appealing to the eye and is very interesting and for most never really been seen before. I guess you could say it is like a puzzle and that is some what I was going for. Yes the design is dark and the color schemes will reflect such. Purple background, with red tongue, brown pieces for the faces and hair. Here are my design sketches:

M3 CD booklet Part 2

My concept for my CD, consumed around the idea of Cocooning. Meaning everything around me is in fact me. Ether it is wrapping yourself in music/lyrics or just stuff in general. I wanted to keep the inner pages 2,7,3,6 simple so they did not  come off as to busy. Within a CD booklet, the the lyrics are at some print you should still be able to read them. When it came to the subtle images throughout the booklet, I made images that fit the song and lyrics at hand. Example: Light On by Eric Balfour "There will be a light on the planet it for you." I decided to go with an image of planet to go hand and hand, while always using my color scheme which is a pink. Now when it comes to the Puppet by Alaska Thunderfuck, I decided to make the lyrics and the song title like they are held up like strings and made a creepy version of a puppet face that fades into the background. Pages 4 and 5, I wanted it to be a poster like image that you would be able to rip out and hang

CD Booklet Design Sketches

COCOONING- Meaning everything around me is me. The music I have chosen represent me and my moods. Each one has lyrics that relate strictly to me and I wrap myself up like a cocoon with them and my mood becomes better. Light On- Eric Balfour B-Team- Marianas Trench This Means War- Marianas Trench It's on You- Jayy Von Puppet- Alaska Thunderfuck Expensive- Todrick Hall Fools Gold- Aaron Carter Look what you made me do- Taylor Swift When approaching ideas for this booklet, I wanted to have specific icon images for each song. The other images of the booklet as in the back images, will be simple as in different textures. Ie, fur, animal prints so on. The color scheme will also reflect me, which includes Pink and Black and not to make it to crazy with different images and colors, the images within the booklet will be black and white with just a splash of color to them. M3 Discussion

The albums make such an impression because it focuses on the artist or bands image as a whole and style. Most of the time that is other times it is when the artists create new albums and songs. The artwork is then reflected by such and sets a theme to all the music within the album. Marianas Trench: Masterpiece Theater- I enjoy this cover art, and not because they are my favorite band, but because it is just so simple and gets the point across. During this time of their album, Josh Ramsay wanted it to be a masterpiece. So what better way to expose master music, then calling the album such. The design is clean and gets the point across, no it does not have the band on the cover, like the other two above have, but if a band has such an impact sometimes you do not always need the visual images. This cover is just a stage shot looking out to the audience, yes there is no audience. This implies they are trying to get to the big stage and arena gigs. This is art is mainly focused o

The Hudson Valley Inn Logos & Business Card

NEW NEW NEW When thinking about the design concepts for The Hudson Valley in, I did take into consideration for the scenery it provided for city dwellers. Although I still wanted to give it a classy cozy type feel also. I kept a color scheme of black and red, I figured a dark red would be a nice contrast to the black but also pleasing to the eye and also easy to read. I know a typical business card is horizontal, but when putting everything together, I felt as though my designs looked better in the a vertical manor. Plus I believe it gives it more of a personal touch. I made sure to have the back of the business card readable and neat, all a business card needs is basic information, and in this case information of the restaurant manager. I also made it a little authentic by having Maines actually zip code. I also added a personal touch and added a filter to the card as a hold, like a card stock with some light ridges. Preliminary Work for Main Project Part One

I have had some experience with making signs. Though those signs were for L.E.D.S. I sketched out a few for the main hotel logo as well as for the upscale restaurants and bar. I took it upon my own creativity considering there is no such thing as The Hudson Valley Inn. It left open to one owns interpretation of what the names and styles of the hotel would be and have. I did however, keep in considering the feel that was mention about a scenic escape for city dwellers, but still keeping it classy but with a cozy like feel.

Word Illustrations

I have never used Adobe Illustrator before, so this was a very different experience compared to Photo-Shop. I started sketching out three of each a noun, verb and adjective. I also threw in a quick sketch of lion I thought of at work. I decided to go with the noun CHERRY. As you can tell my sketch and the finished product, they are not the same but very similar in the sense. I also wanted to create one in black and white and then another in color to show a contrast. No "clip art" images were used, I drew in the circle shapes to represent the cherries and used the "Y" as the stem. Here is my updated version of CHERRY and I also added HONK. NEW NEW NEW NEW!!!!
